Mentorship

Your Success Begins Here
We begin with evaluation, gently assessing each child’s reading skills, strengths, and areas needing support through observation and simple diagnostics. Next, we set goals by crafting personalized, achievable milestones that align with their developmental stage and spark motivation. Then we grow, guiding them through joyful, skill-building activities that reinforce progress and deepen comprehension. Throughout, we celebrate small wins and adapt strategies to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to continue reading.

Success Stories
My husband and I were struggling to support our daughter as she learned how to read. Every time we sat down to practice, she would become upset and frustrated, and we began to feel that we might be too close to the situation to be effective. We decided to bring in a professional who could not only support her but also help us understand if there was anything else we should be aware of.
From the moment Mitzi came to our home, she brought a calm, thoughtful presence. She spent time with our daughter one-on-one and gave us practical, compassionate strategies we could apply as a family. Since then, we’ve seen a remarkable change. Our daughter is more patient, less frustrated, and has begun to approach reading with a more open and confident mindset.
One of the most helpful things Mitzi taught us was how to shift our approach. She encouraged us to focus on effort and process, rather than correction or performance. We began reading to our daughter more, without pressure for her to read aloud unless she wanted to. We also learned to let her make mistakes so she could build the skill of self-correction — a crucial step in the learning process.
Mitzi’s support has truly been transformative for our daughter and for us as parents. We are so grateful.

As a parent, I deeply value the approach that Mitzi brings to her work. She doesn’t rely on a one-size-fits-all curriculum; instead, she looks at each child’s unique strengths and needs. When she worked with my son, she uncovered skills that had previously been overlooked and gave him the tools to grow as a reader. When my nephew later needed literacy support, Mitzi was the first person I thought of, and her guidance was just as impactful. Mitzi’s dedication to structured literacy and her focus on teaching children how to read make her an invaluable partner for families who want to see their children thrive.

Working alongside Mitzi during our FUNdations training was a valuable experience. Her guidance and insight gave me the confidence and preparation I needed to implement the program effectively. Mitzi brings both encouragement and deep understanding to the learning process- not just for students, but for fellow educators as well. I’m confident her knowledge of structured literacy and commitment to evidence based practices will be an asset to families and schools in our area.
